Purple leaves are one of the medicinal plants that are maintained as ornamental plants in the yard of the house that is widely used by the people of Indonesia. This plant contains a variety of chemical compounds, including alkaloids, saponins, tannins, glycosides, flavonoids, and alcohol. Purple leaves are also believed by the public as medicinal plants that are efficacious as anti-inflammatory, oxytocic and anti-implantation, antidiabetic, antioxidant, and estrogenic.

Utilization of purple leaves traditionally in some areas in Indonesia including to treat stomach ulcers, earaches, constipation, ambient, bruising, mute, relieve gout, fever, launch the menstrual cycle and urinate, destroy kidney stones, normalize the size of the uterus, clean the uterus from white blood, stimulate the production of breast milk, and reduce weight.

The active ingredients of compounds contained in purple leaves (graptophyllum pictum) are flavonoid compounds, steroids, saponins, tannins, and alkaloids that will help to relieve the symptoms of hemorrhoids. The way to process purple leaves as hemorrhoids medicine is to boil as much as 9-10 grams of fresh purple leaves in 2 glasses of water (600 cc) until it becomes 1 glass of decoction and taken regularly every day 1 time and done for five days in a row, then the effects caused by hemorrhoid symptoms such as pain, bleeding, and heat will disappear without a tear
